During live events or at conferences, often time there is a Q&A session that follows. Instead of having your audience raising their hands, stand-up and grab a mic, have you thought of posting questions directly on Twitter? The moderator then can pick the best questions and display them on a giant screen using a social wall. This is an exciting way to host Q&A for a number of reasons:
- More questions will be asked
- Better quality control
- Generate buzz for your events on Twitter (Free PR!)
- Audience watching the remotely can also participate
Let’s look at what you need to set up a Q&A with Twitter and using a social wall.
Before and during the event, make sure you get the words out that a Q&A session will be happening shortly. You should instruct your audience to tweet with your hashtag and @mention you and/or your panelist on Twitter. Set up an announcement to display on your Social Wall, this way attendees learns that they can start tweet questions right away!
Text or SMS
Sometimes, an event may require an alternative way to post questions such as SMS text messages. Social Wall like IdeaCloud has integrated with Twilio to receive SMS message directly.
Moderation and Social Wall
In your social wall portal, a moderator can read through the list of questions that came in from Twitter or SMS. Choose the question you like, and display them one at a time on a big screen. This way, you have full control and ensure the quality of the questions asked.
We also recommend to retweet or reply the questions directly on twitter to further engage with your audience. Don’t be surprised that your organization or your panelists gained many new followers afterward.
After the event
After the Q&A session has complete, consider embedding a social hub to display the best questions and answers on a blog post. For the folks who missed the Q&A session can access the content. Plus this is valuable content to be shared with your audience.
As you see, hosting a Q&A session on Twitter and pairing it with your social wall is easy. It is a great way to engage with your audience, generate valuable discussion, and help generate more buzz and PR for your event.
